Department focus

   Subjects of the Department are developing with regard to requirements of industry. There still are subjects like “Machine Design” and “Machine Automation”, bigger effort is given to research and application of the new technologies and methods in Rapid Prototyping, plant logistics and projecting, and innovation of manufacturing systems. Department of manufacturing systems has a extended know-how regarding optimizing and innovating company processes and using computer simulation, which was gained especially by making solution for specific projects for industrial practice.

   Research-development focus of the department corresponds to the focus of professional personnel of the department. It grasps content of the department’s guaranteed fields of study well. It can be summarized in the following areas of interest:

  • Research and application of new methods and technologies (Rapid Prototyping, 5-axis machining – prototyping)
  • Designing manufacturing facilities, dedicated manufacturing and assembly machines, additional and auxiliary equipment
  • Positional servos, hydraulic mechanisms, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, device and technical activities automation
  • Computer simulation of manufacturing and logistics systems, scheduling production contracts, manufacturing system projecting (process innovation), industrial engineering

 

   Department provides teaching and leading bachelor projects in Bachelor’s study in subject of Manufacturing systems with focus to Manufacturing systems and provides teaching and leading thesis in the Master’s study in designing machining and facilities focusing on machining and assembly, and in Manufacturing systems focusing on flexible manufacturing systems for production engineering. Department also provides a PhD degree study in area of Manufacturing systems and processes, and Machine and facility designing. During classes, students are getting familiar with problematic of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanisms, design of machining and forming tools, modern computational methods and designing methods. Further they gain knowledge of manufacturing process automation, CNC machining and their programming, logistics and manufacturing systems design. We are also emphasizing on process of thinking, using synergic effects of “worker – organization – technology”.

Department is a co-researcher of:

  • Research plan MSM 4674788501 (2005-2011) – “Optimization of machine properties in interaction with working processes and human aspects”, focusing on Rapid Prototyping Methods research.
  • Project MPO FI IM5/065 (2008-2010) – “Development of new technologies manufacturing moulds for PUR foams”, focusing on realization of an extremely complex surfaces
  • Project MPO FT-TA5/129 (2008-2010) - “Research, simulation, modeling and application of electronic cams at the control systems of the processing machines“
  • There is a workplace of research center 1M0507 (2005-2009) – “Research of Production Engineering Technique and Technology” on this Department.
